The company was incorporated on 24 December 1991 and is listed at Companies House as wholesale of household goods (other than musical instruments) n.e.c.. Its last accounts at Companies House were made up to 31 December 2024. The notice does not give a reason for the insolvency.

About this page. This page brings together facts published in The Gazette and filed at Companies House. It does not say why the company became insolvent, and nothing on it suggests wrongdoing by anyone.

It is general information for suppliers, not legal or financial advice on your claim. Administrators and liquidators act for the creditors as a whole; for advice on your own position, speak to a solicitor or an insolvency practitioner of your own.

Dates and details can change after we publish. Check the Gazette notice and the Companies House record before you act, and tell us about any error. editor@fairpaymentcampaign.co.uk

If HFD Limited owes you money

  1. Work out exactly what you are owed

Total every unpaid invoice, including VAT, for goods or services supplied before 8 September 2026. Keep copies of the invoices, delivery notes, your terms and any statements.

  2. Send your claim to the administrators

Claims are made on a proof of debt form, which the administrators can send you. No last date for claims has been set in a notice yet; one is set before any dividend is paid. Debts of £1,000 or less can be accepted from the company's own records without a formal proof, but sending one is the safe course.

  3. Goods supplied on retention of title

If your terms say you own goods until they are paid for and they are still on the company's premises, write to the administrators straight away with your terms and a list of the goods, so they can be identified before anything is sold.

  4. Before you keep supplying

Most suppliers cannot end a supply contract, or demand that the old debt is paid before supplying again, just because the customer has entered administration (section 233B of the Insolvency Act 1986). For any new order, agree terms and how you will be paid with the administrators in writing first. Take advice before stopping supply under an existing contract.

  5. Read the proposals

The administrators must send creditors their proposals within eight weeks, so by 3 November 2026. The proposals include an estimate of what unsecured creditors will receive, and creditors vote on them, usually by deemed consent. We read the proposals for our money-back tracker when they are filed at Companies House.

  6. Progress reports

Progress reports follow every six months, the first covering the period to 8 March 2027. The administration ends automatically on 8 September 2027 unless creditors or the court extend it.

  7. Recover the VAT

You can usually claim VAT bad debt relief from HMRC once the debt is more than six months overdue and you have written it off in your VAT records (VAT Notice 700/18). If you have credit insurance, tell your insurer now; most policies set a deadline for reporting a customer's insolvency.

What administration means for a supplier

The company is now run by its administrators, licensed insolvency practitioners. Their first aim is to rescue the company as a going concern. If that is not possible, they must try to get a better result for the creditors as a whole than an immediate liquidation would, often by selling the business or its assets.

A moratorium protects the company while it is in administration. You cannot start or continue legal action against it, or take back goods supplied on retention of title or hire purchase, without the administrators' consent or the court's permission.

Unsecured creditors, which include most suppliers, are paid after the costs of the administration, secured lenders and preferential creditors (employees' pay up to set limits, and some taxes owed to HMRC). Any payment to unsecured creditors usually comes from the prescribed part, a share of floating charge assets set aside by law, or after the company moves into liquidation.

General information about the procedure, not advice on this case. The creditor's guide explains each procedure in more detail.

Money back for unsecured creditors

The administrators' proposals, due by 3 November 2026, will state their estimate of what unsecured creditors will receive. We read them when they are filed at Companies House.

A figure appears only when the document states it, in pence in the pound, as a percentage dividend, or as a statement that unsecured creditors will receive or received nothing. We never work one out from the totals. An estimate in administrators' proposals or a progress report can change as assets are sold and claims are agreed. A liquidator's final account states what was actually paid. The money-back tracker brings these figures together.

How it paid its suppliers

HFD Limited filed payment practices reports. In its last report, for the period 1 January 2026 to 30 June 2026, the average time to pay suppliers' invoices was:

59days

25% of invoices paid within 30 days, 49% not paid within the agreed terms. Figures as filed.

Directors' other formal insolvencies

Other companies where the same person has been a director or LLP member and which have entered administration, creditors' voluntary liquidation or compulsory liquidation. People are matched by their Companies House officer record, never by name. Members' voluntary liquidations, strike-offs and dissolutions are not listed. Companies become insolvent for many reasons, and having been an officer of one that did is not in itself a finding against anyone.
